PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE


NOTICE is hereby given that the Big Stone Gap Town Council will conduct
a Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 7,2017, at 6:30 pm in the Council
Chambers at the Municipal Building located at 505 E. 5th Street, S., Big Stone Gap,
VA. The public hearing will be held prior to, and in conjunction with, the regularly
scheduled Council Workshop.
The purpose of the Public Hearing is to receive public comment on a request for
property tax exemption for a property owned by Junction Center for Independent
Living, Inc., a 501(c)(3) public charitable organization, located in the Town of Big
Stone Gap, VA. The property requested for tax exemption is:
.306 AC BSG, physical address of 1520 Third Ave., E.
Assessed Value: Land $40,000; Improvements $240,200
Real Estate Tax $1,232.88.
All interested parties are invited to attend this Public Hearing.

public charitable organization, located in the Town of Big Stone Gap, VA. The
property requested for tax exemption is:
Lot 18, Bk 19, P 1, physical address of 401 and 403 Wood Ave., E.
Assessed Value: Land $19,800; Improvements $24,300
Real Estate Tax $194.04
The request for property tax exemption is for a portion of this property, leaving a
taxable portion (403 Wood Ave., E.) which will be an improvement assessment of
$15,100 with a Real Estate Tax charge of $66.44.

PUBLIC NOTICE

 

The Administrative Committee of the Big Stone Gap Town Council will meet on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 5:30 PM at the Town Hall – Council Chambers, located at 505 E. 5th Street, South, Big Stone Gap, VA.

 

The purpose of the meeting is to review the proposed amendments to the by-laws of the Big Stone Gap Fire Department.

 

The meeting is open to the public.
